It includes treatments of conditions like urinary incontinence, difficulty passing urine, prostate enlargement, overactive bladder, female pelvic organ prolapse, strictures, infections, pelvic pain, loss of erections and sexual health issues.
Functional urologists are skilled with reconstructive surgery (repair of structural damage or defects in the urinary tract), and also with prosthesis surgery.
Functional urologists also specialise in treating patients who have bladder dysfunction related to neurological disorders such as spinal cord injuries and multiple sclerosis.
